What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis hair removal is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal. It can be applied anywhere on the body, with the exception of the ear canal and nostril. Many different hair and skin types can benefit from electrolysis treatment, unlike laser hair removal which is mainly suited for dark hair and light skin, making electrolysis an appealing and suitable option for all skin types and hair colours.
An electric current is applied using a very fine needle-shaped electrode, or metal probe, into each hair follicle. The aim is to eliminate the hairs' root. Because hair grows at different stages, (growing, resting, shedding) and therefore is not guaranteed to be on the same stage at any given time, it does require multiple sessions to achieve the best possible results. In most cases a number of electrolysis sessions are needed over a period of at least 12 months. It starts with frequent visits longer in duration, then requires less time between visits shorter in duration.
If the possibility of discomfort is of concern, it is important to keep in mind that some areas on your body are more sensitive than others. ESK offers a numbing cream, Zensa, which many people use for facial treatments. My experience, and that of my clients, is that the sensation becomes more familiar and tolerable with each session. FACIAL & BODY SUGARING VS WAXING
Is there really a difference between waxing and sugaring ? The answer is yes, and quite a bit actually.
Wax products are made of resins which adhere to the skin cells. Because wax sticks to any surface it is applied to, pulling it away causes unwarranted pain. Alexandria Professional surgaring products never adhere to live skin cells on bodies, faces
or legs. Therefore, when it is removed, it only gently exfoliates dead skin cells, leaving behind silky smooth skin.
Most products used for wax are made from petroleum based resins and chemicals making them prone to contamination or cross contamination.Waxing your client using hot wax runs the risk of burning sensitive skin.
AP sugaring is performed at body temperature. Alexandria Professional advanced sugar pastes adhere to the hair, not to the skin and lubricate the root for easier extraction from the follicle.Combined with the hair removal in the natural direction of growth, AP sugaring means a much comfortable experience for everyone.

Born and bred in the Limestone City I’ve lived a rich career in the hospitality industry. I know what makes a happy customer and how to deliver the best care, attention to detail, and quality service. After having electrolysis work done myself, I learned first hand the power electrolysis hair removal can have over one’s self confidence. I pursued and completed my technical studies at the West End Academy in Ottawa becoming a licensed Electrolysis Technician. I now enjoy welcoming clients into my own independent Electrolysis studio!
